The MICA institute, formerly known as the Mudra Institute of Communications, is a very well-known institute for strategic marketing and communication. The institute is located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. In order to get into MICA candidates need to take the following steps:
1. Appear for at least any one of the 3 exams
The candidates wishing to seek admission into MICA need to appear for at least one of the following exams:

2. Appear for the MICAT test
The candidates selected have to appear for the MICAT exam. In the exam, the candidates are assessed on the following parameters:
It will mainly test the candidate’s English grammar and vocabulary. Around 70% of the questions in the VARC section are asked from the given passages. In the past few years, it is observed that the VARC section in the CAT exam is quite easy to solve. So, scoring in this section becomes extremely important in order to score good percentile.
It will test how the candidate deals with Charts and the diagrammatic representations. It is the second section of the CAT exam. All you need to have is logic, alertness, and presence of mind to score well in the section. The section is said to be challenging but in reality, it isn’t that tough if practiced well.
This topic will test the candidate’s ability to deal with numbers. This section is considered to be tough by a lot of candidates. Candidates end up losing a lot of marks in this section. The Quant section tests the mathematical skills of the candidates. This causes discomfort for the students without a mathematical background.
General awareness is a branch which is tested in a lot of competitive exams. The section tests candidates knowledge in topics like national affairs, international affairs, bilateral affairs, sports, persons in news, places in news and recent happenings in all sectors.
Divergent and Convergent Thinking
Divergent thinking means solving problems that may have more than one possible solutions. Convergent thinking means solving problems with only one possible solution. This causes the candidate to think a lot. This tests the thinking skills, common sense and enhances the creativity of the candidate.

3. Attend the Group Exercise and Personal Interview
Students who have scored well in the written paper are then qualified for the next rounds:
Group Exercise (GE)
Group exercise is like group discussion. The candidates must be able to put forth his/her opinions in a group. A topic is given to a group of candidates and each candidate has to express his/her views.
Personal Interview (PI)
Personal Interview is conducted in order to know the candidate’s speaking skills and the kind of personality the candidate possesses.
4. Check the Merit List
Merit list is prepared by MICA on the following criterias:
- Majority of the panel members should recommend the candidate on the basis of his/her personal interview.
- Minimum score of 3.5 on 5 should be acquired by the candidate in the group discussion round.
- Minimum score of 4 on 5 should be acquired by the candidate in the personal interview round.
- The final score is determined on the basis of the weightage for each level, given as follows:

5. Complete the Admission Process
If the candidate completes all the levels and is successful in finding his/her name in the merit list than the candidate has to complete the admission process to successfully be a student of MICA, Ahmedabad.
The fees at MICA for a 2 year postgraduate programme including the residential charges is Rs. 18,50,000/- (approximately). MICA also provides scholarship based on the academic performance and family income.
