SBI PO – State Bank of India Probationary Officer Exam

Summary

State Bank of India conducts SBI PO exam for recruitment of candidates to the post of Probationary Officers in different branches of the bank. . The selection process comprises – Preliminary and mains examination followed by Interview.

Candidates are selected based on their performance in mains and interview. The selected candidates will be exposed to basic banking knowledge, before joining, through an online course and will have to mandatorily complete this course before joining.

The selected candidates, at the time of joining, will have to execute a Bond for a value of Rs 2.00 lac (Rs Two lac only) to serve the Bank for a minimum period of three years. Candidates joining as probationary officers will be on probation for two years.

Eligibility

All candidates who have cleared their graduation in any discipline from a recognized university fulfill SBI PO 2018 exam eligibility criteria. Candidates who are appearing for their final year/ semester exams are also eligible to apply. However, if shortlisted for the interview round, such candidates need to present the proof of having passed the graduation
Note:Candidates having the qualification of Chartered Accountant (CA) are also eligible to apply. Also, candidates possessing an integrated dual degree (IDD) certificate must ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before your interview date.


SBI PO Age Criteria:
Candidates who are at least 21 years and maximum of 30 years in age fulfill SBI PO 2018 age criteria.

Note:The official website informs, “Vacancies reserved for OBC category are available to OBC candidates belonging to non-creamy layer. Creamy layer OBC candidates should indicate their category as General.
SBI PO Number of Chances:
The maximum number of chances that candidates can appear for SBI PO exam is as mentioned below:

It may be noted that candidates who have already appeared for the SBI PO exam for a maximum number of times are not eligible to apply. “The number of chances will be counted from the examination held on April 18, 2010. Appearing in Preliminary Examination will not be counted as a chance,” informs the official website.

Process

Step 1: Fill SBI PO Application Form
For SBI PO 2018 registrations, candidates first need to fill as well as submit the application form in online mode on the official website of the bank. Thereafter, candidates also need to pay SBI PO 2018 application fee in online mode via debit card/ credit card/ internet banking.

Step 2: Download SBI PO Admit Card/ Call Letter
Candidates can download SBI PO 2018 admit card (also known as call letter) from the official website of the bank. It may be noted that no hard copy of the call letter will be sent by post.

Step 3:Appear for SBI PO Preliminary Exam
Next, candidates need to appear for the Preliminary exam at the allotted exam centre. Preliminary exam will be of one hour duration and candidates need to answer questions related to subjects such as English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
Step 4: Appear for SBI PO Main Exam
Candidates qualifying the Preliminary exam then need to appear for SBI PO 2018 Main exam at the allotted exam centre. Main exam contains both objective and descriptive questions that candidates need to complete in a total duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Step 5: Appear for SBI PO Group Exercises & Interview
Candidates qualifying the Main exam then need to appear for the final phase of selection process – Group Exercises & Interview.
Step 6:Check Final SBI PO Result
Candidates clearing the final phase of Group Exercises and Interview will then be eligible for recruitment in SBI as a PO. SBI declares PO result on its official website.

Exam Pattern

SBI PO exam pattern is such that the paper is conducted in three phases – Preliminary, Main as well as Group Exercises and Interview. SBI PO exam pattern for each phase is as mentioned below:
Phase I – SBI PO Preliminary Exam Pattern
SB PO Preliminary exam pattern is such that the paper will contain objective questions of 100 marks that candidates need to complete in one hour duration. The test will be conducted in online mode.

SBI PO exam pattern for Preliminary round is such that there will be a total of 100 objective questions in the paper that candidates need to complete in one hour duration.

Marking scheme: One mark will be awarded for each correct answer. There will negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.
SBI PO Main Exam Pattern

SBI PO pattern for Main exam is such that there will be a total of 155 multiple choice questions and 2 subjective questions that candidates need to complete in a total duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Marking scheme: There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks in the objective part of the paper. There will be no negative marking for subjective questions in the test.
SBI PO Common Interview Round
It may be noted that the final SBI PO merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in the Main exam (Phase II) as well as Group Exercises and Interview (Phase III). Marks obtained in the Preliminary exam (Phase I) will not be added for the final selection of candidates, informs the official website.

Application Form

Candidates can apply for SBI PO exam in online mode as per the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Register for SBI PO
To start with, candidates need to visit the official website of SBI PO (http://ibps.sifyitest.com/sbipoapr18/index.php). Thereafter, candidates need to click on the link, Click Here for New Registration available on the top of the page. On clicking the link, a new page will open on which candidates need to enter the below-mentioned details
Personal details: This includes filling details such as name, mobile number, gender, and email ID.
Educational qualification: Here, candidates need to enter details of their last qualifying exam such as name of the university/ college, marks scored, year of passing, etc.
Photograph & signature: In this section, candidates have to upload their scanned photo and signature as per the prescribed guidelines. Candidates must note that size of scanned image file for photo should be 20kb–50 kb and for signature should be 10kb – 20kb.


Once all details are filled candidates need to submit their form by clicking on the Final Submit button. On submitting the form, a registration number and password will be generated on the screen. Candidates need to note the registration number and password for future reference.
Step 2: Pay SBI PO Application Fee
Candidates can pay SBI PO application fee in online mode via credit card/ debit card/ internet banking.
On successful payment of application fee, candidates’ application process will be complete.

Admit Card

SBI PO Call Letter for Interview Out
Candidates can download their SBI PO admit card/ call letter along with an “acquaint yourself” booklet from the official website of the bank. Candidates can download their admit card by following the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Visit the official website of SBI.
Step 2: Click on the Download SBI PO Call Letter link.
Step 3: Enter registration number and password/ date of birth in the space provided.
Step 4: Click on the Submit button.

SBI PO admit card will appear on the screen. Candidates are advised to take a printout of the admit card only after checking all details mentioned in the document carefully. In case of discrepancy in the information on the admit card, candidates are advised to get it rectified immediately by contacting bank authorities.
Once downloaded and printed, candidates need to carry the admit card at the allotted exam centre. Along with the admit card candidates also need to carry a photo ID proof (original and self-attested photocopy) that needs to be submitted along with admit card/ call letter to the invigilator in the examination hall at the time of exam. It may be noted that candidates failing to provide the admit card and/ or ID proof on the day of the exam might be allowed to give the paper. Documents that can be carried as photo ID proof are:
