SBI Clerk – State Bank of India Clerk Exam

Summary

State Bank of India conducts SBI Clerk exam to shortlist candidates for recruitment of junior associates (Customer Support & Sales) in clerical cadre in the bank.
All candidates possessing graduation degree from a recognised university fulfill SBI Clerk exam eligibility criteria. SBI Clerk exam pattern is such that the test is conducted in two phases – Preliminary ad Mains. All candidates who qualify SBI Clerk Preliminary exam are shortlisted to sit for Mains exam. All candidates who qualify SBI Clerk Mains exam are shortlisted for recruitment in SBI in different vacancies available under clerical cadre.
The SBI Clerk exam is a computer based test conducted in two phases – Preliminary and Mains followed by a test of the local language. The preliminary examination of SBI Clerk is held tentatively in July while the mains exam is conducted in August. According to eligibility criteria, candidates who are between 20 to 28 years of age and completed their graduation can appear for the SBI Clerk exam. However, reserved candidates will be given age relaxation as per their category. Candidates is selected for Junior Associate post on the basis of marks secured in the mains exam only. To qualify each stage of examination – prelims and mains candidates have to secure subject wise and category wise cut off marks as per their category. Candidates who will score higher in the SBI Clerk mains exam will be given a better rank in the merit list. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the score obtained in mains exam.
SBI Clerk 2018 dates are out. SBI Clerk Preliminary exam was conducted from June 23 – 24 and on June 30, 2018. Also, SBI Clerk Mains exam was conducted on August 5, 2018


Eligibility

In order to fulfill SBI Clerk 2018 exam eligibility criteria candidates should meet all the parameters mentioned below:
Educational Qualification
All candidates who possess a graduation degree in any steam from a recognised university fulfill SBI Clerk exam eligibility criteria. Candidates having an integrated dual degree (IDD) certificate are also eligible to apply for the exam. However, such candidates should ensure that the date of passing IDD is on or before January 1, 2018.

Age Limit :Candidates should be minimum 20 years and maximum 28 years in age as on January 1, 2018. This means that candidates must have been born not earlier than January 2, 1990 and not later than January 1, 1998. It may be noted that there is also age relaxation of some years for reserved category candidates. However, such candidates need to submit copies of necessary certificates at the time of joining, if qualified, informs the official website.

Note: Candidates working in SBI in clerical or officer cadre are not eligible to apply under for the exam. Also, candidates who were earlier employed in SBI and resigned from the bank while in clerical or officer cadre are also not eligible to apply for the exam.

Step 1: Fill IBPS Clerk Application Form
Firstly, candidates need to fill SBI Clerk application form on the official website of the bank. Once the form is duly-filled, candidates need to pay SBI Clerk application fee in online mode via debit card/ credit card/ internet banking.

Step 2: Download SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam Admit Card/ Call Letter
Candidates can download their admit cards for SBI Clerk exam on the official website of the bank. Once downloaded, candidates need to take its printout and carry it at the allotted test centre on the day of exam.
Step 3: Appear for SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam
Next, candidates need to take the Preliminary exam at the allotted test centre. Preliminary exam of SBI Clerk is an online test that is divided into three sections: English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability.
Step 4: Download SBI Clerk Mains Exam Admit Card/ Call Letter
All candidates clearing the Preliminary exam can download their admit card for SBI Clerk Mains exam on the official website of State Bank of India. Once downloaded, candidates need to take its printout and carry it at the allotted exam centre.
Step 5: Appear for SBI Clerk Mains Exam
SBI Clerk Mains exam is also an online test divided into the following four sections: General/ Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude.
Step 6: Check Final SBI Clerk Exam Results
State Bank of India releases SBI Clerk exam results on its official website. The results are in the form of a merit list containing names/ roll numbers of all candidates shortlisted for recruitment in different clerical posts in SBI.

Exam Pattern

SBI Clerk 2018 exam consists of two online tests (Preliminary and Main) and a test of specified opted local language. SBI Clerk exam pattern for all the three tests (Preliminary, Main, and local language) is as mentioned below:

SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam is an online test that consists of objective questions of total 100 marks. Candidates need to complete the exam in a duration of one hour. The online test is divided into three sections as mentioned below:

Marking scheme: There is negative marking in the exam of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer
SBI Clerk Main Exam Pattern
SBI Clerk Main Exam is an online test that consists of objective questions of total 200 marks. Candidates need to complete the exam in a duration of 2 hours 40 minutes. The online test is divided into four sections as mentioned below:

Marking scheme: There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer in the exam.
Note:Question papers for both Preliminary and Main exams (except for English section) are set in Hindi as well as English languages.
Test of Specified Opted Local Language:
All candidates who get provisionally selected after clearing Preliminary and Main exams need to appear for a test of specified opted local language. Any candidate who fails to clear the test will be disqualified from the recruitment.
It may be noted that candidates who get provisionally selected and produce marksheets of classes X and XII or certificate evidencing having studied the opted local language will be exempted from giving the test, informs the official website.

Application Form

Step 1: Register on the official website of SBI
Firstly, candidates need to visit the application portal of SBI and click on the Click Here for New Registration button. On clicking the button, a new page will be open containing the application form. Some of the details that candidates need to fill in the application form are:
Personal details: Here, candidates need to enter details such as name, mobile number, gender, and email ID.
Educational qualification: In this section, candidates need to fill details of their last qualifying exam such as name of the university/ college last attended, marks scored, year of passing, etc.

Photograph & signature: Here, candidates need to upload their scanned photo and signature as per the prescribed guidelines. Candidates must note that size of scanned image file for photo should be 20kb–50 kb and for signature should be 10kb – 20kb.
Once the application form is duly-filled, candidates need to click on the Submit button to submit the form.
It may be noted that if candidates are unable to fill the application form in one go, they can save the already entered data. On saving the data, a registration number and password will be generated that candidates can use to login to their accounts and fill the remaining sections of the application form. However, candidates must note that this facility will be available for a maximum number of three times.

Candidates can pay SBI Clerk 2018 exam application fee in online mode via debit card/ credit card/ internet banking.

On successful payment of the fee, an e-receipt and application form with fee details will be generated that candidates can print and keep for their own records.

Admit Card

All candidates can download their admit card/ call letter from the official website of the bank by following the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Visit the official website of State Bank of India.
Step 2: Visit the careers page on the website of State Bank of India.
Step 3: Click on the Download Call Latter link available on the page.
Step 4: Enter registration number and password/ date of birth in the space provided.
Step 5: Click on the Submit button.
On clicking the button, SBI Clerk exam m2018 admit card will appear on the screen. Candidates are advised to check details on their admit card carefully and in case of any discrepancy in the information provided contact the bank authorities immediately. SBI Clerk exam 2018 admit card will contain details such as candidate’s name, roll number; exam name, date, time; and exam centre name and address.

Once the admit card appears on the screen candidates need to download it and take a printout to carry it to the allotted exam centre on the day of the exam. Along with the admit card, candidates also need to carry a photo ID proof with themselves. Documents that can be produced as photo ID proofs are:

Adhar Card
PAN Card
Driving License
Voter’s Id Card
Bank Passbook with duly attested Photograph
Identity Card issued by School or College
It may be noted that candidates not carrying their admit card and/ or photo ID proof will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
